Descrizione del tour
Mexico City is the best street food city in the world and the Centro Historico is where it is densest. This walk stays inside about twenty blocks built on the ruins of the Aztec capital.
We start at Mercado de San Juan, which is where the city's chefs shop: cheeses, chillies dried eight ways, edible flowers, chapulines, and a counter selling tortas that will ruin other sandwiches for you. Your guide walks you through the chilli wall, which is where understanding Mexican food actually begins.
Then tacos. Al pastor from a shop that has been carving it off the trompo since 1959, a technique Lebanese immigrants brought to Mexico in the 1930s and Mexico improved. Suadero and campechano from a stand that barely closes. Tlacoyos, the pre-Hispanic blue corn pockets stuffed with beans and cooked on a comal by a woman who has worked the same corner for years.
We finish with mole in a dining room that opened in 1912 and looks it, and churros with thick chocolate at a churreria that has been frying since 1935 and has never closed.
Small group, maximum 8 guests, entirely on foot.

Altre note
Forniamo acqua in bottiglia.
