Descrição do tour

Roteiro detalhado
Stop 1 - Mercado de San Telmo: The 1897 iron market hall, a national monument, with your guide on the immigration that built this city's food.
Stop 2 - Empanadas: Baked and fried, with your guide on the regional differences - saltena, tucumana, mendocina - and why the crimp on the edge tells you what is inside.
Stop 3 - Choripan: Grilled chorizo split into a crusty roll with chimichurri, eaten standing up. Argentina's street sandwich.
Stop 4 - Pizza and fugazzeta: Porteño pizza with an outrageous depth of mozzarella, and the onion-and-cheese fugazzeta that contains no tomato, at a pizzeria trading since 1934.
Stop 5 - Milanesa: A breaded cutlet, in the napolitana version with ham, tomato and melted cheese, which is the dish Argentines actually eat most.
Stop 6 - Cheese, jamon crudo and Malbec: A picada board with a glass of Malbec, and your guide on why Argentine wine tastes the way it does.
Stop 7 - Helado: Dulce de leche granizado from a heladeria open since 1957, served the Argentine way in a cone with a spoon.

Outros avisos
Runs Sunday and Tuesday to Saturday at 11:00. We do not run on Mondays, when the San Telmo market is closed.
On Sundays the Feria de San Telmo takes over Defensa Street and it is spectacular - it is also the most pickpocket-dense place in the city. We still run, we keep the group tight and we will tell you where to put your bag.
Safety: San Telmo, Retiro, Florida Street and La Boca are all named in travel advisories for heightened caution. Our route stays in the market and the streets immediately around it in daylight. We do not go to La Boca on this tour; if you go, go in the day and stay on Caminito. Use app-based cars or radio taxis, never street-hail, and be careful at ATMs.
Money: Argentina's inflation is still around a third a year, but the old gap between the official and the blue dollar rate has essentially closed, so there is no longer any reason to carry wads of cash for arbitrage. Cards work well. We price in US dollars for that reason.
Water: Buenos Aires tap water is safe to drink.
Argentine meal times are late. Lunch is 13:00 to 15:00 and dinner rarely starts before 21:30, which is why this tour runs at 11:00 rather than earlier.
Dietary needs: tell us at least 48 hours ahead. Vegetarian is workable but Argentina is a meat country and we will be honest with you about that.
About 2 km of walking on flat streets with uneven pavements.
