Descrição do tour
Da Lat fica a 1.500 metros de altitude, no Planalto Central, foi construída pelos franceses como uma estação climática de montanha e produz quase todos os produtos agrícolas de clima temperado do Vietnã: morangos, alcachofras, abacates, café, flores e cerca de trinta tipos de vegetais que não conseguem se desenvolver nas planícies.
As manhãs aqui são frias para os padrões vietnamitas, por volta de 15 °C, e a gastronomia da cidade reflete isso. Começamos no piso inferior do mercado com o bánh mì xíu mại: não um sanduíche, mas uma tigela de caldo quente com almôndegas de porco, pele de porco e cebolinha, servida com uma baguete para ser despedaçada e mergulhada no caldo. Em nenhum outro lugar além desta cidade o bánh mì é consumido dessa forma, e em uma manhã fria isso faz todo o sentido.
Em seguida vem o bánh ướt lòng gà — lâminas de massa de arroz cozidas no vapor com frango desfiado, miúdos e ervas frescas, outro prato exclusivo de Da Lat —, seguido por um passeio pelo piso inferior do mercado com o guia apresentando os produtos da serra: alcachofras, abacates do planalto, caquis, morangos, além das versões desidratadas e em compota de todos eles.
Terminamos com um chá de alcachofra, um autêntico café de Da Lat e uma taça de kem bơ, o famoso sorvete de abacate da cidade.

We meet at the main steps of Da Lat Central Market on Nguyen Thi Minh Khai. Your guide will have a small sign with your name. Bring a jacket - mornings here are cold.
Roteiro detalhado
Stop 1 - Da Lat Central Market, lower level: The morning food hall, with your guide on the highland farms that supply Vietnam's vegetables.
Stop 2 - Banh mi xiu mai: A bowl of hot broth with pork meatballs, pork skin and spring onion, with a baguette to tear and dip. A Da Lat-only way of eating banh mi.
Stop 3 - Banh uot long ga: Steamed rice sheets with shredded chicken, offal and herbs, dressed with fish sauce - another dish that exists here and essentially nowhere else.
Stop 4 - Produce walk: Artichoke, avocado, persimmon, strawberry, and the dried and candied versions, with your guide on what is in season.
Stop 5 - Artichoke tea and mut: Artichoke brewed as tea, which Da Lat treats as medicine, with candied fruits from the mut stalls.
Stop 6 - Da Lat coffee: A cup from a highland roaster, with your guide on arabica in Lam Dong and how it differs from the robusta grown further north.
Stop 7 - Kem bo: Avocado ice cream with coconut and roasted peanut - the Da Lat dessert, and better than it sounds.
