Descrição do tour
Ask an Istanbul cook where they eat and they will say Kadikoy. It is on the Asian side, across the Bosphorus, and its market streets are flatter, cheaper and far more local than anything in the old city.
We start in the market: a fishmonger's row where the catch is laid out on ice, cheese shops with forty kinds of Anatolian cheese, pickle shops selling glasses of brine to drink, and a stall that does nothing but roasted nuts. Your guide walks you through it and explains what is worth buying.
Then the food. A restaurant serving rotating regional Anatolian dishes rather than the standard Istanbul menu - the kind of cooking that changes every month depending on what a particular village sends. Then meze: stuffed vine leaves, smoked aubergine, fava, octopus salad, spread across a table with a glass of raki and cold water, which is how Istanbul actually eats in the evening.
We finish with Turkish ice cream, beaten until it is elastic enough to be cut with a knife, and a last cup of tea in a side street.
Small group, maximum 10 guests, entirely on foot.

Stop 4 - Meze table: Stuffed vine leaves, smoked aubergine, fava, octopus salad and hummus, spread across a table the way Turkish evenings work.

Stop 7 - Dondurma and tea: Turkish ice cream beaten until it can be cut with a knife, and a last tulip glass of tea.
