O mercado noturno de Phu Quoc fica na rua Bach Dang, em Duong Dong, e realmente vale a visita — mas também é um lugar onde os turistas são facilmente cobrados a mais. Os frutos do mar costumam ser pedidos antes de os preços serem informados, intermediários em motos atraem clientes para restaurantes que pagam comissão, e a conta pode ser duas ou três vezes maior do que os moradores locais pagam.
Realizamos o passeio com todos os preços definidos por escrito com antecedência. Essa é a parte mais importante deste tour.
Comeremos vieiras grelhadas com óleo de cebolinha e amendoim triturado, ouriços-do-mar cortados ao meio e grelhados na concha com ovo de codorna e queijo, camarões-louva-a-deus no vapor com capim-limão e o que quer que os barcos tenham acabado de descarregar naquela tarde — o guia levará você pelas bancadas de gelo e mostrará o que está fresco e o que já está ali há algum tempo.
Também provaremos goi ca trich, a salada de arenque da ilha: arenque cru curado em vinagre e limão, misturado com coco ralado, cebola e ervas frescas, depois enrolado em papel de arroz e mergulhado em molho de amendoim com pimenta. É o prato do qual os moradores de Phu Quoc mais se orgulham e que quase nenhum resort consegue preparar do jeito certo.
Terminaremos na área de sobremesas — algodão-doce enrolado em papel de arroz, coco-da-índia macio e água de coco fresca.

We meet at the Bach Dang Street entrance to the night market. Your guide will have a small sign with your name.

Stop 1 - The ice counters: Your guide walks you along the seafood on ice, names everything, tells you what is fresh, and agrees prices in writing before anything is chosen.
Stop 2 - Grilled scallops: Split and grilled with spring onion oil and crushed peanuts, eaten straight from the shell.
Stop 3 - Sea urchin: Split and grilled in the shell with quail egg and a little cheese - a Phu Quoc habit that sounds odd and works.
Stop 4 - Mantis shrimp and squid: Steamed with lemongrass, or charred and cut into rings with the sharp green seafood sauce.
Stop 5 - Goi ca trich: Raw herring cured in vinegar and lime with grated coconut, onion and herbs, wrapped in rice paper with a peanut and chilli sauce. The island's proudest dish.
Stop 6 - Banh khot and grilled skewers: Coconut-batter pancakes and charcoal skewers from the market's snack row.
Stop 7 - Dessert row: Candy floss wrapped in rice paper, wax coconut and fresh coconut water, with your guide's notes on the island.

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour start time for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable, because the seafood is bought on the day.
