Descrição do tour
Rabat is the capital, and its medina is the one place in Morocco where you can walk without being hassled. There is no tout economy here, because there are not enough tourists to support one. The food is more residential and less theatrical than Marrakech or Fes, and the walk is considerably more pleasant.
We start at Bab El Had and go straight down Rue Souika, the medina's spine, where the morning trade is msemen and harira and kefta sandwiches from griddle carts. Then Rue des Consuls, the artisan souk where the carpet auctions happen, with stops for pastries and tea.
The centrepiece is r'fissa, a Rabat and Fes dish that families cook to celebrate a birth: chicken with lentils, fenugreek and ras el hanout, ladled over torn msemen or day-old bread. It is rarely on restaurant menus and is one of the best things in Moroccan cooking.
We finish inside the Oudayas kasbah, a walled quarter of blue-and-white lanes above the Bouregreg river, with mint tea and gazelle horn pastries on the terrace looking across to Sale.
Small group, maximum 10 guests, entirely on foot.

Outros avisos
Runs daily at 09:30. Rue Souika is liveliest between nine and noon.
Rabat is the least hassled medina in Morocco, which makes this the easiest Moroccan food walk for nervous first-time visitors, families or anyone who found Marrakech overwhelming. It is also, honestly, less spectacular - the stalls are more everyday. We would rather you knew that when you book.
The Moroccan eating clock in the capital is late: lunch is 14:00 to 16:00 and dinner rarely before 21:00. Our morning route works around that.
Friday: many family stalls close around midday prayer and the family couscous. We finish before that.
Ramadan: daytime service largely stops; we switch to an evening tour - ask us.
Alcohol is not served in the medina and is not part of this tour.
Water and hygiene: bottled water only.
Dietary needs: tell us at least 48 hours ahead. Vegetarian is straightforward here.
About 2 km of walking, largely flat, with a short climb into the kasbah.
