Detailed itinerary
Ho Chi Minh City – My Tho – Ben Tre (morning, lunch)
Morning:
05:30 The vehicle and tour guide pick up the group at the meeting point and depart for My Tho. Have breakfast at Mekong Reststop Tien Giang.
08:30 The group visits Vinh Trang Pagoda, an ancient pagoda built in 1849. It is a unique architectural work to which many people contributed over many years, and is a large pagoda featuring a diverse blend of Asian and European architectural styles (French, Roman, Thai, Khmer, and Cham). However, the pagoda still strongly retains the traditional Vietnamese architectural and sculptural style.
09:00 The group arrives at My Tho Pier and boards a boat to cruise along the Tien River. The boat takes you to Thoi Son Islet, where you walk along the village road to a beekeeping farm to learn about local honey production and enjoy the specialty honey tea. The group then visits a local home to enjoy seasonal fruit and experience Southern Vietnamese amateur music performed by local residents. After that, take a rowing boat through small canals to admire the natural nipa palm trees on both sides and the simple scenery of the orchard region.
10:00 The boat takes you downstream along the Tien River to Ben Tre, where you visit and learn about the process of making coconut candy and enjoy freshly made candy at the workshop. You then take a horse-drawn carriage to explore the village roads of Ben Tre. Enjoy Ben Tre specialties, including coconut beetle larvae (at your own expense).
12:30 Enjoy lunch featuring local specialties at an orchard restaurant on Phung Islet (Ben Tre).
15:00 The boat takes the group back to My Tho Tourist Pier. Board the vehicle and depart for Ho Chi Minh City.
