Family tours with young children and elderly travelers: how to submit a request

Tips for booking a multigenerational family tour: choosing the destination, itinerary pace, hotel, vehicle, and guide suitable for young children and elderly travelers. Includes a sample request.

Traveling with the whole family, from grandparents to young children, can be a memorable trip but also the most tiring. Group tours often move quickly, start early, and involve long journeys, making them difficult for both elderly travelers and young children. Therefore, a private tour designed around your family’s needs is often a better choice.

5 things to consider when traveling with young children and elderly travelers

1. A slower pace. Plan only 2–3 attractions per day, with a midday break. Avoid starting the day before 7 a.m.

2. Shorter journeys. Limit road trips to under 4 hours. For longer distances, consider flying or taking the train, or split the journey into two sections.

3. A spacious, newer vehicle. Families of 5–6 should use a 7-seat or 16-seat vehicle to have room for luggage and a stroller. Be sure to request a child safety seat if you have a young child.

4. A convenient hotel. Choose a family room or connecting rooms, with an elevator, near the city center, or with a swimming pool for children.

5. A patient guide. Prioritize guides with “Family & Child Companion” skills, first-aid knowledge, and a gentle manner when speaking with elderly travelers.

Easy destinations for multigenerational families

  • Da Nang – Hoi An: direct flights, beautiful beaches, walkable streets, and many family-friendly resorts.
  • Nha Trang, Phu Quoc: beach resorts and entertainment areas for children.
  • Da Lat: cool weather and many flower gardens and farms for children.
  • Ninh Binh: gentle boat trips and close to Hanoi.
  • Ha Long: overnight cruises are suitable for elderly travelers if you choose a boat with an elevator or lower-deck rooms.

How to submit a family tour request

Go to Post a tour request and select “Find a custom-designed tour”:

  • Under Group details, enter the exact number of adults, children (ages 2–11), and infants (under 2).
  • Under Travel style, select “Family,” “With children,” and “Elderly travelers.”
  • Under Required skills, select “Family & Child Companion” and “First-aid-trained Companion.”
  • Under Notes, specify the children’s ages, the grandparents’ health conditions, and any dietary restrictions.

Sample note

A three-generation family of 7: 2 grandparents (aged 72 and 70; the grandfather walks slowly and cannot climb slopes), 3 adults, and 2 children (aged 6 and 18 months). We would like to visit Da Nang and Hoi An for 4 days and 3 nights. A maximum of 3 attractions per day, with a midday rest at the hotel. We need a 16-seat vehicle with a child safety seat, and a hotel near the beach with connecting rooms. The grandparents eat low-salt food, and the younger child needs hot water for mixing formula.

The clearer your notes, the more accurate the quote and the smoother the trip will be.

If you only need transportation, you can post a vehicle request and add child safety seat and luggage assistance services.
