You are about to take a trip and need a tour guide, but don't know where to start looking? Instead of opening individual profiles and messaging each person to ask about prices, you can post a single request and let suitable guides proactively send you proposals. Posting a request is completely free for travelers.
What is posting a request for a tour guide?
This is a “reverse” way to find a tour guide: you describe your trip, and verified guides on Huongdanviendulich.vn read your request and send you quotes. You compare profiles, experience, languages, and prices, then choose the person who suits you best.
This method is especially useful when:
- You don't know which guides are available at your destination.
- You need a less common language (Russian, Italian, Spanish, Thai…).
- You are traveling in a group and need a guide with specific skills, such as group activities, emceeing, interpreting, or trekking.
- You want to compare multiple prices without taking the time to ask each person individually.
4 steps to post a request
Go to the Post a Request for a Tour Guide page and complete the 4 sections:
Step 1: Contact information and itinerary. Enter a short, clear title, such as “Looking for an English-speaking guide for a one-day tour of Hanoi for 2 guests.” Enter your phone number, email, departure date, and return date.
Step 2: Trip details. Select the departure point, destination, number of adults, children (ages 2–11), and infants (under 2).
Step 3: Tour guide requirements. Select the gender, years of experience, card type (international, domestic, or on-site), language, and desired skills. If you have no special requirements, leave it as “No preference” to receive more proposals.
Step 4: Budget and notes. Enter the daily service fee or select “Negotiable.” The notes section is where you can provide additional details: preferences, elderly travelers accompanying you, dietary restrictions, pickup location, and more.
Click “Post Request for a Tour Guide Now” and you're done. Your request will appear in the list of tour guide requests for suitable guides to view and apply.
What happens after you post?
- Guides submit applications and quotes. Each proposal includes a profile so you can review the guide's experience, languages, and reviews.
- You compare and communicate further with the people you find suitable.
- You choose a guide and confirm the service. The selected guide must place a deposit with the platform; this deposit is refunded only after the service is completed, helping prevent cancellations.
Tips for receiving more competitive quotes
- Post early. During peak seasons (Tet, summer, April 30–May 1, and September 2), good guides are often fully booked several weeks in advance.
- Clearly describe your expected itinerary. “Visit the Old Quarter and the Temple of Literature, and have dinner featuring Hanoi cuisine” helps guides provide more accurate quotes than simply writing “tour Hanoi.”
- State your actual budget. A clear budget helps you receive realistic quotes and saves both sides time.
- Avoid setting too many mandatory conditions. Each additional condition narrows the number of guides who can accept the request.
