Tour description
This is the classic itinerary for first-time visitors to Siem Reap who want to experience the essence of the Angkor complex— a UNESCO World Heritage Site—in just one day.
The journey begins while it is still dark so you can watch the sun rise behind the five towers of Angkor Wat, reflected in the lotus pond in front. Your guide will then take you inside the world’s largest temple to explain the bas-reliefs depicting the Churning of the Ocean of Milk, the Apsara dancers, and Hindu cosmology expressed through the architecture.
Next comes the royal city of Angkor Thom, featuring Bayon Temple with more than 200 smiling stone faces, Baphuon Temple, the Terrace of the Elephants, and the Terrace of the Leper King. The afternoon concludes at Ta Prohm—the temple embraced by giant tree roots and famously featured in the film Tomb Raider.
The itinerary is arranged to avoid peak crowds and the intense midday heat, making it suitable for families with children and older travelers.
