Tour description
This program is designed for travelers who want to understand Angkor in depth, rather than simply take a few photos. The itinerary is arranged in chronological order so you can see how Khmer art and architecture developed over more than 600 years.
You begin with the Roluos Group (Hariharalaya) – the early capital of the Khmer Empire, then visit Phnom Kulen, where King Jayavarman II proclaimed the establishment of the kingdom in 802. The following days are devoted to Angkor Wat, the capital city of Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm, Preah Khan, the pink temple of Banteay Srei, Kbal Spean, the ancient capital of Koh Ker, and the jungle temple of Beng Mealea.
The itinerary avoids peak crowds and intense heat, with time allocated for lunch breaks. The guide has in-depth knowledge of Khmer history and iconography; the tour is suitable for enthusiasts of archaeology, architecture, and photography.
