Tour description
A tour combining two contrasting yet quintessentially Cambodian experiences: a nearly unrestored jungle temple and a fishing village whose life follows the seasonal water levels of Tonle Sap Lake.
Beng Mealea is located about 70 km from Siem Reap and was built in the 12th century, with a layout similar to Angkor Wat. Today, the temple is enveloped by jungle, with fallen stones piled upon one another, creating a mysterious atmosphere. Wooden walkways allow you to view the temple complex from above.
In the afternoon, you will visit Kampong Khleang—the largest floating village in the Tonle Sap region, with stilt houses standing up to 10 meters high. Traveling by wooden boat through the village, you will see pagodas, schools, markets, and the daily life of local fishing communities; there are far fewer tourists than at Chong Kneas.
The high-water season (approximately August–November) is the best time for boating; during the dry season, you can see the impressive full height of the stilt-house columns.
