Tour description
The Siem Reap – Battambang boat route is considered one of the most scenic river journeys in Southeast Asia. Over 6–8 hours, the boat travels across the vast waters of Tonle Sap Lake before entering the Sangker River, passing floating villages, stilt houses, fish farms and the riverine lifestyle that cannot be seen by road.
In Battambang, enjoy a full day exploring the countryside known as Cambodia’s “rice basket”: the Norry bamboo train, the mountain temple of Wat Banan, villages making rice paper, bamboo sticky rice and dried bananas, and the sight of millions of bats flying out of Phnom Sampeau cave at sunset. In the evening, you can attend a performance at Phare Ponleu Selpak – the art school where the famous Phare circus was founded.
On the final day, a private vehicle takes you back to Siem Reap. Note: the boat route operates only when water levels are sufficient (usually from around August to January); during the dry season, the itinerary will be changed to a private vehicle combined with a boat visit to the floating villages of Prek Toal or Kampong Khleang.
