Tour description
Khmer cuisine is less well known than Thai or Vietnamese cuisine, but it has a distinctive flavor profile based on kroeung—a mixture of lemongrass, galangal, turmeric, and kaffir lime leaves pounded by hand—along with prahok fish paste and coconut milk.
The class begins with a visit to a local market with the chef, where you will learn to identify herbs, spices, and freshwater fish from Tonlé Sap. Then, at an open-air kitchen in a garden, each participant has their own cooking station to pound kroeung and prepare three dishes: banana-leaf-steamed fish amok, Khmer-style green mango salad, and beef lok lak (or a vegetarian alternative). The class ends with a shared meal featuring the dishes you prepared, along with recipes to take home.
Morning and afternoon classes are available. Suitable for families, couples, and vegetarians.

Pick-up at the hotel (08:30 or 14:30).
Visit a local market with the chef for approximately 45 minutes to learn about Khmer ingredients and spices.
Return to the kitchen to cook, learn about Khmer cuisine, make kroeung paste by hand, and prepare 3 dishes: fish amok, green mango salad, and beef lok lak (vegetarian option available).
Enjoy the dishes you have prepared and receive the recipes to take home.
Transfer back to your hotel, ending the tour (12:30 or 18:30).

Free cancellation with a 100% refund when notified at least 24 hours before departure. Cancellations made within 24 hours of departure are non-refundable. In the event of bad weather or attraction closures required by the authorities, we can help reschedule the tour or provide a full refund.

The tour is normally led by an English-speaking local guide; guides speaking Vietnamese, French, Chinese, Japanese, Korean, and other languages can be requested (please indicate this when booking, subject to guide availability).
The price applies per guest and is based on a private tour for groups of two or more guests. Larger groups receive better rates; please contact us.
Visa: International visitors need a Cambodian visa (apply for an e-visa online before the trip or obtain a visa at the border crossing/airport); ASEAN nationals are exempt from visa requirements. Passports must be valid for at least six months.
