Tour description
Laos officially recognizes more than 50 ethnic groups, each with its own language, clothing, and beliefs. The Traditional Arts and Ethnology Centre (TAEC) in Luang Prabang is a small but highly regarded private museum displaying the clothing, handicrafts, musical instruments, and stories of ethnic groups such as the Hmong, Akha, Khmu, Tai Lue, and Yao.
Next, at the UXO Lao Visitor Centre, you will learn why Laos is considered the most heavily bombed country per capita in history and why unexploded ordnance clearance work is still ongoing today.
The tour concludes at Wat Visoun Temple – one of the oldest temples in Luang Prabang, featuring the hemispherical That Makmo stupa (locally known as the “watermelon stupa”) – followed by nearby Wat Aham. Morning and afternoon tours are available.
