Tour description
On the western bank of the Mekong River opposite Luang Prabang are peaceful villages known to few tourists, accessible only by boat across the river. This half-day cycling tour lets you explore the countryside at a leisurely pace.
You cross the river by boat with your bicycle, then cycle along village roads through vegetable gardens, rice fields, and small temples. The main stop is Ban Chan Village—a pottery village with a history spanning hundreds of years, where local people still handcraft jars, vessels, and plant pots and fire them in riverside earthen kilns. You can try making a small pottery item.
As afternoon falls, a wooden boat picks you up at the village and takes you downstream on the Mekong to watch the sunset behind the mountains and over the roofs of the temples in the former royal capital before docking near the city center.
