Tour description
Tonle Sap is the largest freshwater lake in Southeast Asia. During the rainy season, the lake expands several times in size as the Mekong River flows back into it. The lives of tens of thousands of people around the lake are closely tied to its rising and falling water levels.
Kompong Phluk is approximately 16 km from Siem Reap and consists of a cluster of villages with stilt houses standing on 6–8-meter-high pillars. You will travel by motorboat through the village, see children paddling basins to school and locals drying fish and mending nets, then transfer to a small boat rowed by village women to explore the quiet flooded forest.
At the end of the day, the boat heads out into the middle of Tonle Sap so you can watch the sunset over the vast expanse of water—a moment many visitors consider the highlight of their Siem Reap trip.
The high-water season (approximately July–December) is when boats can travel deepest into the forest; toward the end of the dry season, the boat may have to stop on the river near the village.

Detailed itinerary
Afternoon (14:00): The vehicle and tour guide pick you up at the hotel, traveling through rice fields and rural villages to the Kompong Phluk boat pier (approximately 40 minutes).
15:00: Board a motorboat through the stilt village, stopping to visit a local family or the village pagoda to learn about life during the flood season.
16:00: Transfer to a small boat rowed by local residents and travel through the flooded forest for approximately 30 minutes.
17:00: The boat reaches the mouth of Tonle Sap Lake, where you can watch the sunset over the lake.
Evening (18:00): Return to the pier, and the vehicle takes you back to the hotel. 19:00: End of the tour.

Free cancellation with a 100% refund when notified at least 24 hours before departure. Cancellations made within 24 hours of departure are non-refundable. In the event of bad weather or attraction closures required by the authorities, we can help reschedule the tour or provide a full refund.
