Tour description

Luang Prabang lies on a peninsula where the Nam Khan River flows into the Mekong River. It was once the capital of the Lan Xang Kingdom and the Lao royal family. In 1995, the entire town was recognized by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site thanks to its rare blend of traditional Lao temple architecture and rows of French colonial buildings.

The tour takes you to the Royal Palace Museum—the former residence of the royal family, featuring a throne room decorated with stained glass and the Haw Pha Bang temple, home to the sacred Pha Bang Buddha image. Next, visit Wat Mai, with its gilded façade, and Wat Xieng Thong (16th century)—the most beautiful temple in Luang Prabang, known for its ground-hugging tiered roof and “tree of life” mosaic on the wall.

In the afternoon, stroll through the small streets along the Nam Khan River, visit the bamboo bridge (during the dry season), then climb approximately 330 steps up Phousi Hill to watch the sunset over the Mekong River before ending the day at the handicraft night market.
