Tour description
Thanks to the Laos–China high-speed railway, Vang Vieng is now only about 1 hour from Vientiane, making it ideal for a short 2-day trip. The itinerary brings together the best experiences of this limestone mountain town.
On the first day, visit Tham Xang Elephant Cave, float into Tham Nam Water Cave, kayak down the Nam Song River, and swim at Blue Lagoon. In the evening, watch the sunset over the limestone mountains from a riverside café. The next morning, hike Nam Xay Mountain at sunrise to admire the sea of clouds, visit Tham Chang Cave, and take the train back to Vientiane.
You can optionally add a morning hot-air balloon ride (at your own expense) or continue on to Luang Prabang instead of returning to Vientiane.
