Tour description
Before Angkor Wat was built, the Khmer dynasty established its capital at Hariharalaya, now the Roluos area about 13 km from Siem Reap. The Roluos Group temples are the Empire’s earliest large-scale structures and laid the foundation for later Angkor architecture.
Preah Ko (879) consists of six brick towers that still retain many layers of stucco reliefs and statues of the sacred bull Nandi. Bakong (881) is the first sandstone pyramid temple, a model for Angkor Wat, surrounded by a moat and sacred Naga serpents. Lolei stands in the middle of the ancient Indratataka reservoir and is now part of an active pagoda, where you can see monks going about their daily lives.
The temple complex receives few visitors and has a peaceful atmosphere, making it ideal for a morning or afternoon visit away from the crowds. It can be combined with a multi-day Angkor Pass.

Detailed itinerary
Pick-up at your hotel (07:30 or 14:00), then depart for Roluos (approximately 25 minutes), stopping at the Angkor ticket counter if you do not already have a ticket.
Visit Preah Ko Temple and learn about the brick-tower architecture and stucco reliefs of the early period.
Visit Bakong mountain temple and climb to the top level to enjoy views of the countryside.
Visit Lolei Temple within the grounds of an active monastery.
Stop at a rural village along National Route 6, then return to your hotel, ending the tour (12:00 or 18:30; the afternoon tour includes sunset viewing at Bakong).

Cancellation policy
Free cancellation with a 100% refund when notified at least 24 hours before departure. Cancellations made within 24 hours of departure are non-refundable. In the event of bad weather or attraction closures required by the authorities, we can help reschedule the tour or provide a full refund.

Angkor Pass (reference prices for 2026): 1 day USD 37, 3 days USD 62, 7 days USD 72; children under 12 travel free (bring a passport). Tickets include a printed portrait photo and are non-refundable and non-transferable.
Dress code: when visiting temples, pagodas, and the Royal Palace, please wear clothing that covers the shoulders and trousers/skirts below the knees; sports shoes are recommended because many sections have steep stone steps.
The tour is normally led by an English-speaking local guide; Vietnamese-, French-, Chinese-, Japanese-, and Korean-speaking guides can be requested (please advise us when booking, subject to guide availability).
