Description du circuit
At dusk the electric signs in Hoi An go off and several thousand silk lanterns come on, the river fills with paper candles, and the food moves outdoors. The night market on the An Hoi islet, a single lane of a few dozen stalls, is where the town eats after dark.
We cross the pedestrian bridge as the lights come up and work down the lane: pork and squid skewers over charcoal, banh trang nuong - rice paper crisped over coals with egg, dried shrimp and spring onion, which locals call Vietnamese pizza - corn cheese, grilled scallops, and sugarcane juice pressed in front of you. Your guide orders in Vietnamese, explains what each stall is known for and steers you away from the ones that exist only for photographs.
We finish back on the Old Town side with a bowl of che, the sweet bean and jelly soup that is Vietnam's answer to dessert, sitting by the river while the candle boats go past.
Small group, maximum 10 guests, entirely on foot, about 1.5 kilometres.

Autres remarques
Runs daily at 17:00.
Full-moon lantern nights, on the 14th day of each lunar month, are beautiful and extremely crowded. The Old Town turns off its electric lighting, crowds are heavy and several vendors close early. We still run, but the walk is slower and we recommend booking another night if you want a relaxed pace.
Flood season runs late October to mid December. The An Hoi islet and the riverfront are the first areas to flood.
Dietary needs: tell us at least 48 hours ahead. Vegetarian works well on this route.
Minimum age 8; younger children are welcome but the lane is crowded and the charcoal grills are at child height.
Entirely on foot, about 1.5 km on flat streets and one pedestrian bridge.
