Description du circuit

Chinatown Complex Food Centre, 335 Smith Street, Singapore

Itinéraire détaillé
Stop 1 - Claypot rice order, Chinatown Complex: We place the order first - charcoal claypot rice has been cooked one pot at a time at this stall since 1979 and takes around forty minutes. Then we go and eat elsewhere while it cooks.
Stop 2 - Chinatown Complex night stalls: The largest hawker centre in Singapore at full volume. Two or three night-only stalls chosen by your guide from the 260-plus kitchens in the building.
Stop 3 - The claypot returns: Rice with chicken, salted fish and Chinese sausage, lifted straight off the coals. We crack the caramelised crust off the bottom of the pot, which is the entire point.
Stop 4 - Chinatown backstreets walk: A short walk through the shophouse blocks between Chinatown and the financial district, with your guide on how these five-foot ways worked as kitchens.
Stop 5 - Satay Street, Boon Tat Street: At 19:00 the street closes to traffic and the satay carts move into the road. Chicken, mutton and prawn satay by the stick with peanut sauce, ketupat and raw onion.
Stop 6 - Lau Pa Sat: A cold beer or lime juice under the cast-iron Victorian market roof shipped from Glasgow in 1894, with a plate of grilled seafood or oyster omelette to share.
Stop 7 - Chendol or ice kachang: Shaved ice with coconut milk, palm sugar and red bean to finish, and your guide's shortlist of hawker centres to visit on your own.

Politique d'annulation et de remboursement
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour start time for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable, because the claypot rice is ordered and paid for in your name. Satay Street is open-air but covered seating is available at Lau Pa Sat, so the tour runs rain or shine. If we cancel, you receive a full refund or a free transfer.
Autres remarques
Runs daily at 18:00. The 18:00 start is fixed so that the claypot arrives before we walk over for satay - Boon Tat Street only closes to traffic at 19:00 on weekdays.
Minimum age 12 because of the late finish and the beer stops. Guests under 18 are served soft drinks.
Hawker stalls close without notice. Your guide reconfirms the route the day before and keeps substitutes inside the same building.
Dietary needs: tell us at least 48 hours ahead. Halal, vegetarian and vegan versions are all possible with notice, although the satay stop is the one that needs the most planning - we will route you to a halal satay cart if you tell us in advance.
Chinatown Complex has an approved but unscheduled major renovation. If it closes, we run the same tour shape from Maxwell or Amoy Street and will tell you before you travel.
Both venues are step-free and wheelchair accessible; Boon Tat Street seating is on the road surface.
