Description du circuit
When the Old Town shops close, the food moves to the pavements. This evening walk covers what the island eats after work: charcoal grills, southern Thai curry trays, Muslim roti stalls and the dessert carts that come out at dusk.
We start with moo hong, pork belly stewed with black pepper, garlic and soy until it is dark and sticky, which is the Phuket family dish. Then southern Thai curry over rice, chosen from a tray of ten by pointing, which your guide will warn you is the spiciest food in Thailand for a reason. Grilled seafood follows - prawns, squid and whole fish over charcoal with a sharp seafood dipping sauce - and then the sweet end: roti fried in butter with condensed milk from a Muslim cart, and a bowl of o-aew, Phuket's own shaved-ice dessert made with banana jelly and red syrup.
Along the way your guide explains southern Thai food's Malay and Indian roots, why fermented shrimp paste is the backbone of the region, and how to order spice levels so you actually survive it.
Small group, maximum 10 guests, about 1.5 kilometres on foot.

Itinéraire détaillé
Stop 1 - Moo hong: Pork belly stewed with black pepper, garlic and dark soy until sticky and collapsing - the dish Phuket families cook at home and rarely put on tourist menus.
Stop 2 - Southern curry trays: Point-and-eat curry over rice from a tray of ten - fish organ curry, yellow crab curry, turmeric-heavy southern style. Your guide will manage the spice for you.
Stop 3 - O-tao by charcoal: The taro, oyster and egg griddle, cooked at a night stall where the pan has been seasoned for years.
Stop 4 - Grilled seafood: Charcoal prawns, squid and a whole fish with the sharp green seafood sauce, at a pavement grill house with plastic tables.
Stop 5 - Roti from a Muslim cart: Dough slapped, folded and fried in butter, served with condensed milk or with a small bowl of curry - the island's Malay-Muslim inheritance.
Stop 6 - O-aew: Phuket's own dessert, shaved ice over banana jelly with red syrup and beans, from a cart that has been on the same corner for years.

Politique d'annulation et de remboursement
Free cancellation up to 24 hours before the tour start time for a full refund. Cancellations within 24 hours are non-refundable. Tours run rain or shine, with covered fallbacks during monsoon downpours.
Autres remarques
Runs daily at 17:00.
Southern Thai food is the spiciest in the country. Your guide orders mild for the group by default and will only escalate if you ask.
Dietary needs: tell us at least 48 hours ahead. A no-pork route is easy here because of Phuket's Muslim community, and a vegetarian route is possible with notice.
The Vegetarian Festival, in the ninth lunar month, usually late September or October, changes the whole town for nine days: the meat stops, street processions block roads, and firecrackers are constant. It is an extraordinary thing to see and we run a modified all-vegetarian version of this tour during it - tell us if you are travelling then.
Monsoon season runs May to October with heavy afternoon rain; the evening usually clears.
Minimum age 10. About 1.5 km of flat walking.
